Teacher Assistance Program

New Hampshire Courage & Renewal and Peak Education Performance* are collaborating to provide school leaders with a customized approach to help the new teacher become a competent, confident professional in the classroom. Our program can also be customized for an experienced teacher to create a renewed passion for teaching and a recommitment to effective classroom and staff practices.

Our Teacher Assistance Program or TAP provides the school leader and teacher with an opportunity to enter into a partnership with a professional improvement and mentoring team from outside the school that strengthens:

Effective classroom performance skills
The educator's "craft knowledge"
Personal and professional confidence
Staff collegiality
Professional self-development
This collaborative effort will help teachers:
Build or Renew passion about teaching
Discover or Rediscover the value of collegiality
Build or Restore personal pride and professional resilience  
Explore or Re-explore classroom techniques and management skills
Examine and apply “best practices”
Practice effective teaching strategies

WHAT WE DO

Each participant meets four times during the year in Courage to Teach group sessions that lead them to recognize or reclaim professional attitudes, skills and competencies that will positively impact learning outcomes for their students.

In addition to the Courage to Teach experience, our teacher mentors will observe the classroom environment and work with the teacher to:

• Identify strengths and weaknesses

• Analyze current practice

• Set a course for achieving classroom competency

In addition to the Courage to Teach experience, the participant may choose to engage in the reflective dialogue of a Critical Friends Group.

Courage to Teach – four sessions during the year
Courage to Teach – four sessions during the year, plus our teacher mentor
Courage to Teach – four sessions during the year, plus our teacher mentor and/or development of a Critical Friends Group
